COURSE OBJECTIVES :
These objectives will be met through reading our
text, viewing slide and films, and discussing and writing about art.

To gain knowledge and understanding of the history
of art, its terms and practice, primarily Western, from the Prehistoric
to Gothic periods.
To learn to understand and evaluate critically art
works of various periods and styles.
To understand and appreciate how art functions within

analyze art works in their social and historical as well as aesthetic contexts.

During the course of the semester you must demonstrate
